Lloyd's Carrot Cake

Lloyd's Carrot Cake is 100% worth the trip if you're a carrot cake lover. The Riverdale location is very small and definitely more of a grab-and-go spot than somewhere to sit and hang out. There's no real seating inside, so plan on taking your treats to go !! The carrot cake completely lives up to the hype. It's incredibly moist, perfectly spiced, and you can tell they've absolutely mastered their recipe. The cream cheese frosting is rich without taking away from the cake itself, and every slice is HUGE. At around $6 a slice, it's actually a great value because the portions are soo generous. I also tried the red velvet cake, which was delicious, but it had a little more frosting than I personally prefer. If you're someone who loves extra cream cheese frosting, you'll probably be obsessed with it. For me, though, the carrot cake was the clear winner. Overall, this is one of those classic New York spots that's famous for a reason. Whether you're a local or just passing through the Bronx, Lloyd's Carrot Cake is definitely worth stopping by. I'll absolutely be back for another slice🥕🍰

No-frills, but they’re seriously doing carrot cake right here. Yes, it’s in Harlem—and yes, there’s a second location on the UWS—but this was absolutely worth the trip. We indecisively grabbed two plain slices and regretted not getting more about 30 minutes later. Easily the most moist, perfectly sweet carrot cake I’ve had—coming from someone who only enjoys carrot when they’re in curry.

Great customer service right as we walked in and we were out with our carrot cakes a minute later. The cake was moist, had good structure, and great flavor. Van Cortland Park is across the street and the perfect place to sit and enjoy your slice in.

Carrot cake was delectable. Moist. Pleasantly sweet. Not over spiced. Worth the hype. And I’m not even a carrot cake person. This location does not answer their phones. Ever. This is why I knocked a star off. Called the Harlem location to verify they were even open. Can’t use any online platform to order ahead. They’re listed as close. They have the machine off that gets orders. The guy at the counter was friendly and efficient enough. But wouldn’t have gone based on them not answering the phone. Why drive somewhere when you can’t get someone to answer a question especially about allergens. By the way. The nuts are walnuts. For anyone who needs to know. No tables. No frills. Wasn’t much of a wait when I went on a Saturday around 4:30PM.

The people who work here are nice, but all the people who double park out front cause delays for MTA buses going to the 242nd street subway station, and it's extremely dangerous for cyclists. But it's nice to see them using lots of fresh produce, although the cake is still super sweet, it feels like things work out even, healthy versus unhealthy. I just wish they would increase portion sizes a bit since the price keeps going up as it becomes more & more popular.

My coworker went out her way to way to get me a slice of the carrot cake and a slice of the strawberry coconut cake! Both delicious and like a big back I had the carrot cake for lunch! Very moist and flavorful and can taste the culture of my race!! Got me in a trance! 😍🥰😘

I discovered this bakery on Instagram and made a mental note to visit the next time I was nearby. A few weeks later, I finally had the opportunity to stop by and picked up a few slices of the various flavors they offered. First, I want to mention that this is not a large bakery at all; it appears to be a family-oriented establishment. I specifically went there for the carrot cake, which they offer with or without nuts, available either as a whole cake or by the slice. I purchased one slice of each flavor, and although I don’t remember the exact prices, they were reasonable. As for the carrot cake, it was just okay. I wasn't particularly impressed; I've had better. While it was tasty, it was a bit dry. My mom, who is the "carrot cake queen," agreed with me without me prompting her, so I knew my opinion was confirmed. On a positive note, I really enjoyed the coconut scone—it was moist and not overly sweet. I didn't taste the chocolate slice, and the strawberry slice was just okay. Overall, I believe the visit was worth it, but I might choose to pass on this bakery in the future. I do want to commend them for being a small, Black-owned business that has made a name for itself, so kudos to them!

I’ve been buying this cake for all my parties since 8 years ago. It’s always a big hit. For my kids birthdays I get a plain carrot cake because of their nut allergies and I have never had an issue. The plain cake with icing on top is perfect to add your own cute decorations. By far the most delicious carrot cake in NYC.
