Old South Church in Boston

My friend had booked a candlelit concert here for us to attend. Beautiful church, stunning architecture and amazingly talented group of artists who performed the show. Would definitely recommend to anyone who loves instrumental music, and for anyone who would enjoy a relaxing, yet energizing experience. The show we went to was Coldplay and Imagine Dragons music. Very talented group!

Absolutely stunning church with squeaky floor, gorgeous stained glass and lots of history displays. Free of charge and very quiet.

What an incredible and unique location and overall experience!! My husband surprised me with tickets to the Candlelight Concert experience which took place at The Sanctuary: Old South Church on Boylston Street in Boston MA on Saturday 2/14/26 which happened to be Valentine’s Day. The candlelight concert series consists of small groups of musicians or quartets (4 people in total) two violins, a viola, and a cello. Our performers were the Listeso String Quartet. They set up lots and lots of battery operated white candles, dim the lights and they play about 10 songs together based on the specific theme for the night. Of course on Valentine’s Day the theme was classical romance. They engage with the audience a bit as well and they were all great speakers and entertainers. Of course they ask the guests not to take pictures or videos during the performance but they let everyone know that you can feel free to do so during the last song or when you’re coming or going. The ambiance and romantic vibe in this historical church was one of a kind. Guests are led to their seats by staff (first come first serve) into the pews both at the ground level and in a balcony seating areas. We sat in the top right balcony and we had a great view and the sound while they played was great. The only downside was the sound when the musicians spoke to the crowd using the microphone. It definitely wasn’t loud enough, was muffled a bit, and wasn’t projecting very well throughout the venue which had tall ceilings etc. As we exited you had the chance to purchase one of the candles and they had tip jars in the lobby for the musicians. Such a special treat and the location just added to the whole experience.

We visited the Old South Church for the Candelight Concert: Amazing! Beautiful place. Long history. Mesmerizing architecture. Absolutely worth it to visit in any event or simply take a look from inside.

Un capolavoro architettonico a Copley Square! Questa chiesa è assolutamente meravigliosa, sia all'esterno che all'interno. L'architettura gotica veneziana spicca in mezzo agli edifici moderni di Boston. L'interno è un'oasi di pace con vetrate colorate spettacolari e un soffitto finemente decorato. È un luogo ricco di storia che merita una visita anche solo per ammirarne i dettagli artistici. Un vero gioiello nel cuore della città!

Went for a candle light concert. The interior of the church is magnificent. Highly recommend checking it out.

Eine bemerkenswert schöne alte Kirche... Unglaublich, wie man in der Zeit des Baus schon diese holzkonstruktionen fertigen konnte... Und dass diese bis heute Bestand haben.... Sollte man sich nicht entgehen lassen, wenn man auf alte Gebäude steht...

This church is a national historic landmark and has been there since 1875. It was spacious and had a few nooks and crannies to explore. Samuel Adams called this his church and Benjamin Franklin was baptized here. There are some pretty areas of stained glass and little bits of history around the church. It can get a little warm inside even in the end of September. It was a nice little stop to explore and worth the visit.
