The National Great Blacks In Wax Museum

How can I put this delicately. Wait for the new rebuild. The address leads you to a house,the house is let's just say in bad condition. I was told buy the people coming in and out that it was at the next corner. This building was in better conditions then the first. The displays were not keep up and managed like they should of been. Poorly done but for 18 bucks what the hell. I will try anything once but I won't be going back . The only bright spot was there is ground breaking for a new black in wax museum in between the house and the old museum. The hardest part about only paying $18 to get in is knowing you might get robbed for what ever you saved on the way out.🤔. Rough neighborhood. The wire forreal

Visited 04/13/25 While we had fun and enjoyed it, the museum is in bad shape as it appears they lack funding to do upgrades. The inside it is dated and dirty. Some of the exhibits were missing all together or missing parts. They’re using printed papers instead of a plaque to show information on each person. Some of the suits are very oversized, one had green looking hands which did not look realistic at all. Price was $18 dollars when Reginald Lewis museum nearby only charges $12. Lewis blew this one out of the water. However, I did enjoy it and learned quite a bit. It’s cool but don’t expect to be blown away.

This museum is powerful and unforgettable. It starts with a raw, emotional walk through a reconstructed slave ship that shows what the Middle Passage was really like, complete with lifelike wax figures and detailed information. As you move through the museum, you see important scenes from black history and learn about influential black leaders, past and present. It was heavy at times but incredibly inspiring and worth the visit.

I found out about this museum when I received a $3 off coupon to attend. I went on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't crowded. The museum is very educational and offers a lot of displays of historical black figures. I had a great afternoon and will be back again. There's even a complimentary parking lot on the side of the building.

All the Wax figure needs to be upgraded badly. The owner needs to contact asap the establishment who does the Wax figure from madam toussain in NYC to upgrade the Wax figure. Lastly, All these rappers,actors,actress, big money figures etc for donations to upgrade and expand the site location yes it can be done people we donate to every other causes let's help this well known site. View closely the badly facial the clothing disfiguration that needs upgraded etc... Viewers may come at me for my comments but "straight talk for straight understanding". When you know better we should do better in this day and age. Make it make sense. I hope this message hit home. My opinion about what I've viewed. No this not my first time visiting this museum. I took several photos but I only selected these two because of the disappointment I felt while viewing the figures. I drove from Virginia.

Let me tell you, this spot is not to be played with. It’s raw, unfiltered, and makes the National Museum of African American History and Culture in DC look like Disney Land. Caucasians in our current political environment ain’t ready for a place like this. I can only imagine the impact it must’ve had on folks back in its hay day. I hope they keep working on the updated museum project because many of the wax figures displayed have seen better days. However, still a profound impact when you see some of the horrors inflicted on our people. I took a few photos but out of respect won’t post the graphic stuff. A must see exhibit nonetheless.

10/10 a must visit! This museum tell Our story and brings Black History to life in a way I.had never experienced before. Thank you for careful and respectfully telling our story and inspiring my family.

The museum needs a face lift: paint, wash, and dusting. All the exhibit signs are typed up on paper and glued on cardboard. If grant money is given to this museum it isn't going to the museum. The dust had my allergies on 200. We went for the street fair advertised to start at 11am on 6/27/26 and there was NOT one vendor or celebration. I spent $55 for 3 people a day it was not worth it
