Our waiter Butters was absolutely AMAZING! The whole staff was as well. We were celebrating my sister’s bachelorette party, and he truly made our night unforgettable. From the moment we sat down, he matched our energy perfectly, kept the fun going, and made us feel like we were the only table in the restaurant. He went above and beyond with his service, had an incredible personality, and helped get the party started for us. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Thank you for making such a special night even more memorable—we’ll definitely be back! #givebuttersaraise

One of the best bar experiences I’ve had in a long time. The staff are top tier, patient and friendly! The food was a pleasant surprise, we expected bar food and received restaurant quality dishes. The mixologist that curates the drink menu, per season, is top tier. I’ll be back to taste the newest beverage additions to the menu!
We got here at 6pm for dinner and Harry Potter Trivia. We sat at a table. After 15 minutes, no one came to give us a menu or take our order. I went to the bar. The bartender said I could order a drink at the bar but not food. I ordered drinks. We waited for our server. About 50 more people came into the restaurant just ahead of trivia. They all were greeted and ordered food before anyone came to our table. When we finally flagged the waiter down and told him we had been here for an hour and not even gotten a menu, he apologized and said that now the kitchen was on a hold and no longer taking orders. We put in another drink order. It took 40 minutes to even get those drinks. The server never came back to take our orders, so we decided that since we were stuck at this place (since our friend was helping SAVE their trivia night because their microphone broke and she had a loud voice), we would just order pizza from close by. We finally got our food and the manager had the audacity to come over and tell us we couldn’t have outside food at the bar. At this point we had been there for 2 hours without having someone take our order. Not only was the manager uninterested in listening to my complaint, he yelled at me and treated me poorly. So to clarify: we were ignored for an hour, then their kitchen was shut down. We had been drinking alcohol on empty stomachs expecting dinner, but after 2 hours of waiting they wouldn’t allow us to bring food in…despite the fact that we were one of the first patrons in their restaurant that night and others had eaten and left in that timeframe. I even shared a photo of what the place looked like when we got there versus when trivia started. There is no reason why we shouldn’t have been served within 2 hours. I am not very interested in coming back here… Update: the manager gave us each a gift card as an apology.
This was a lovely spot to watch the sunset with a drink and some munchies. My partner and I enjoyed the seasonal decorations and drinks, and the live music was really great! Our main server was wonderful and very helpful, but another server did seem like he was trying to get us out of there very quickly, despite the fact that there were plenty of open tables both inside and out. Would visit again!
We had a very nice experience at this bar. This was our first trip to Asheville and we definitely wanted to try out some of the rooftop bars. The staff was wonderful and engaged in good conversations. Had some pricey drinks, but hey… we were on vacation!
It is tough for my husband and I to give an unbiased review about the Pillar Rooftop Bar. Yes, it is on the rooftop of the Doubletree hotel in Ashville, and yes it has a spectacular view of the Blue Ridge Mountains and it is tiki themed drinks and food but what makes it truly wonderful and the reason we trekked across downtown Asheville is because it shares our last name. We recommend this place, it is a hidden gem. The outdoor rooftop patio is delightful. When the bartender learned our last name was Pillar, he lightheartly joked, "welcome to your bar." We bought lots of merch.
It is a great place to hang out with friends. The drinks were delicious and creatively themed for the holidays. The atmosphere was amazing and perfectly captured the festive spirit from the moment I stepped off the elevator. The outdoor rooftop area was perfect for relaxing by the gas fireplace and enjoying the beautiful Asheville view. While it was a little crowded, it was a testament to the places popularity as a great hangout spot. 🍻
Ordered the jerk shrimp and after getting it we notice it was missing the pineapple and plantains, the bar guys blamed it on the chef, then I ordered the sidewinder fries only to get the just regular fries. When I ask him what happened he added they were out of those but he knew about both of these and never told us till after. Poor customer service and left him a zero tip for sure.
