We really enjoyed our time there, but it did not have the type of animals we thought it would. We were also wanting to look at like zebras and elephants and your common stuff. Now they did have things you normally don't see such as black bears, they did have some longhorns that were really gorgeous, an absolute gorgeous black panther and a lioness and a few other things. So if you're wanting an off the beat zoo this would be great to go to if you're wanting a traditional large zoo this would not be your go to. It's about half the size of the Clovis zoo.

Great place for an afternoon date. My husband and I recently went on our anniversary. The weather was beautiful and only added to the improvements the new crew has made. I really enjoyed all the new signs, the info sheets and how clean and organized the zoo was. I visited years ago and never had the desire to go back. This visit was different; I will definitely be heading back out to just enjoy being near the animals and see all the many improvements they are working on. My husband was born and raised here, and loved that the lion drinking fountain was restored. Instead of being a dirty leaf holder, there were families with their children actually using it. I was absolutely shocked at the turn out of monkey moat! The water was so clean, you could see the bottom of it. Even the bullfrogs looked thankful! lol The before and after transformation is absolutely amazing. It went from a dark green sewer sludge, to a fresh clear moat, clean enough to swim in(but no you can’t swim in it lol). I think my favorite part was there were actually zoo attendants interacting with the animals, speaking positively and excitedly about changes and future development. Last time we visited, you couldn’t even find anyone to ask a question. It’s really improved and I will be going back! One thing I’m looking forward to seeing is bigger and more enriching habitats for some of learning center animals.
We had a wonderful time at the 4th of July animal parade! Our favorite animals were the rainbow snake and wombat. We’re grateful for everyone that helped put this together. We also enjoyed walking around after. The snake building is always a favorite.
The 4th of July Ambassador parade was awesome! My family had a great time and finding the Golden Egg was icing on the cake! We will definitely be back to support the Zoo and Sanctuary.
Great place for a break from traveling!! For a smaller zoo, they had quite the collection of a variety of animals, birds, insects & reptiles...very friendly & informative staff... definitely recommend!!
Fantastic now that they have teamed up with WWWRC!! Animals looked content and happy. Enclosures were in the best shape we've seen!!
Its small not many animals but its cool. I'm sad to know the Male lion passed but otherwise our visit was okay. Only thing I really enjoyed beside the lionesses was the baby bear climbing all the way up a tree with mama bear sitting at the bottom watching(video)I caught it on film best I could. It was funny!
Its a fairly small zoo and sanctuary. It is nice and they actually have a 2 toed sloth. That was really cool. They also have an area for kids where they can take a few critters of animals out for you to interact with. The 2 prairie dogs were in there but I don't know if they can be taken out. It was neat to go through.
