Papa Joe's

The food was excellent, the atmosphere was nice. Very nice place to eat and good food. The service was prompt and good, the only thing was they do not tell you about changing sides is a upcharge. Would not have mattered, but should be told when ordering. I do not like getting the bill and having upcharges that i did not know about. I did not see it on the menu either

Papa Joe's is an excellent italian restaurant in akron. With very flavorful and well balanced pasta. The pasta entrees do come with salad and bread. Which is a lovely addition and does make the $20 to $30 entrees feel like a better value. I also appreciate that the lasagna here does not have ricotta in it its the traditional bechamel sauce. The wine selection is large and encompassing you will definitely find something you like. The restaurant is very quite easy to talk in and a wonderful atmosphere. Service is excellent and well paced. The biggest downside is that the appetizers are over priced for there size. They are not a shareable size even though they seemed to be priced that way. I would suggest skipping the apps because of that. They are good just not worth the price. Save that money to get a nicer entrée. Parking here is easy there is a parking lot just make sure to park at the correct entrance there are 2 separate connected establishments here there is a wine shop and then the restaurant. Just make sure to read the signs carefully before entering they are not the same. But as far as fine dining italian in akron you will not go wrong here.

Was visiting family in the area and we had an excellent dinner here. The Calamarata with Walnut Pesto and Burrata is a March special and was fantastic, as was the Papa Joe’s Potatoes as a shared appetizer. I was slightly envious of a delicious looking salmon fillet on someone else’s plate, and the small bite I was offered to taste did not disappoint. And everyone at the table ordered the French White salad dressing, which is a classic favorite. Our server Marianne was absolutely a gem, what a great evening, can’t wait to come back to Papa Joe’s next time I am in town!

What a great experience! Each person I interacted with was warm and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious. I hope to be lucky enough to return someday soon.

I want to apologize to the cow that gave its life to only be presented to be eaten as if a child had googled ‘how to cook a steak on a grill’ the day of and forgot salt exists. The fact that the Easter menu was reduced to allow a shortened menu to be done better is even more so of an indictment of how pathetic my steak was. It was charred on one side for 30 seconds and the other side for 10 seconds resulting in a blue rare on one end with literally no care to attention for seasoning. I don’t care how busy the kitchen is, to sell a 40$ steak product at a restaurant is criminal if you want to produce what I ate on Easter. I’ve literally had a better flank steak at Michael’s AM across the street. The waitress was kind, and service was excellent. The atmosphere wants to sell you the fact that they are an upstanding restaurant. The white French sauce on the green salad was genuinely good, that is the only reason a 2nd star is present. Someone competent made that sauce. The steak tells you, they don’t know how to hire or manage their kitchen.

I visited Papa Joe’s on a Friday night and had an amazing experience. Our server Celeste was friendly, attentive, and made the experience even more great. The portions are massive but truly delicious. Will definitely come here more often for Italian food. Great place for a date night!

Well it started with day before Valentine's dinner reservation which they had good time slot open that seemed Good from opentable app that was 45mn away so it was fine . The atmosphere was great for Valentine's with the red lights and staff wearing red and the music was a fine but with how busy it was, was little loud but you could still hear. Had the meatballs for appetizers fantastic wish they came with more. Salad was amazing usually don't tend to critique most salads cus of the portions you usually get of it but this one had a creamy ceasar dressing so made in house makes a big difference. Had the sirloin steak which i finished but wasn't a fan off with the risotto with the risotto being good. My wifes roast prime rib was fantastic I devoured what she didn't finish just cause had a good size for being petite. At some point we want to go back and try the pastas since it's a Italian restaurant and we a had good time. One big thing that help was staff as it was a busy night our waitress kept coming back and checking on us since food was taking longer then usual so we didn't run out of water or drinks.

Such a cozy find! As a first-generation Italian, I was genuinely impressed, the food tasted like real Southern Italian home cooking. Antonietta, the manager, was incredibly warm and hospitable, making the evening even more special. Highly recommend for authentic Italian comfort food in a welcoming setting. Can't wait to go back!
