We recently visited this restaurant, and it was truly a unique experience. The location alone makes it special — it’s set inside a factory, somewhere you would never expect to go for lunch. Dining at a table right next to a sewing machine is something you don’t see every day, and it made the whole visit feel one of a kind. The service was on another level. The staff had answers to every question we asked, knew the menu inside out, and paid great attention to allergens and every small detail. You could really feel their professionalism and passion. And then the food… wow. The flavour, taste, and presentation were all top-notch. Every dish looked beautiful and tasted even better. What made the experience even more special was that the head chef/founder came to our table to have a chat about the restaurant, the menu, and how everything started. It gave a very personal touch to the whole visit. Everyone working there had a smile on their face from the moment we walked in until we said goodbye, which made us feel very welcome. I can highly recommend this place — it’s not just a meal, it’s an experience.

A really quirky venue that is all about vegetarian food - but with great choices for us meat eaters. Seating is shared bench tables for smaller couples and plenty great for groups. The food, service and drinks selection was great! I've been meaning to try this place for a while - glad I did. I will be revisiting again soon!

It was quite crazy when we arrived at the craft jeans factory as they transformed it into a restaurant. And the food did not disappoint. We skipped the meat dishes and stayed vegetarian which was excellent (the meat dishes also looked great). Wine list was excellent and they carry beer from Signature. For dessert we had the dark chocolate tart made with 70% premium chocolate. The setting (although industrial) is very comfortable. The staff was excellent as well. Highly recommended. Breweries and Square Mile coffee tour is nearby. The William Morris Gallery is a good walk.

Love this place! Completely unique location - inside a boutique denim workshop, you’re sitting amongst the sewing machines. And the food is delicious and the staff are friendly! We went with a group and ordered pretty much everything on the menu to share. There were no duffs. I loved that vegetables are front and centre. My favourite dishes were sweet brown butter leeks and sharp labneh, the curiously airy cheese and celeriac stuffed pasta and the massaman mussels. I could’ve eaten a vat of the smoked garlic butter that came with the sourdough. We fought over the last bit of the dark chocolate tart and raspberry sorbet.

A really quirky restaurant with a unique location. Never had food at an old factory before !! It really added to the experience. Food was good. I think some of it lacked depth and seasoning unfortunately. Tacos were yum.

Finally made it to SlowBurn and it was everything I'd hoped for. The space is amazing – quirky, interesting, and just a really lovely place to spend an evening. The staff were warm and welcoming, the food was excellent and the place had a great vibe. We shared the padrón peppers, sunflower seed baba ganoush and the black bean gyoza tacos. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and the locally made bread was perfect for mopping up all those delicious flavours. For my main, I had the carrot, walnut and pistachio muhammara, which was packed with flavour and surprisingly filling. Dessert was a dark chocolate tart with raspberry and chilli sorbet – a brilliant combo and a perfect way to finish the meal. The only slight disappointment was a small mix-up that meant my partner's cavatelli dish was served without the ricotta. It was still enjoyable, but the ricotta would have brought the whole dish together perfectly. That aside, everything else was superb. Great food, lovely staff and a fantastic atmosphere. We'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu.

Dinner in a denim factory? This isn’t even a stitch up SlowBurn sits on a stretch of Walthamstow that’s more grit than glamour – opposite a funeral care centre and next to a petrol garage – but that’s kind of the point. This part of E17’s got character, and behind the corrugated steel doors of Blackhorse Lane Ateliers, you’ll find a restaurant that shares space with a working jeans atelier – and yep, you’re quite literally sliding past spools of fabric before you reach your table. But don’t let the machines fool you: by night this place flips into something super cool. The vibe is relaxed, the menu is vegetable-forward (meat plays backup), and everything feels just a little bit unexpected in the best way. In short: if you’re looking for a dinner spot that skips the predictable and delivers flavour with a side of industrial-chic, then this is it… Eat This Start things off with the cauliflower fritters – crisp, perfectly seasoned, and served with a smoked garlic aioli that deserves its own jar. Then there are the black bean gyoza tacos, a SlowBurn classic that nails the balance of crunch, spice, and deep umami flavour. We followed with the ox cheek and tail potato rösti, a slow-cooked dish finished with just the right amount of Parmigiano richness. Vegetables take centre stage throughout. The hispi cabbage, glazed in beer and miso, arrives beautifully charred and nutty, topped with a celeriac and mint dressing. The Violino pumpkin brings smoky, sweet depth with cranberry and ancho chilli – the definition of autumn comfort. For those leaning toward meat, the smoked Fosse Meadows chicken is a standout. For dessert the Cru Virunga 70% dark chocolate and date tart with raspberry sorbet is refined and intense, but it’s the tiramisu that steals the show – classic, creamy, and confident enough to leave tradition untouched. Drink This There’s a sharp, well-chosen drinks list to match the menu’s inventiveness. We went for a cloudy orange wine by the glass, light, textured, a little wild. Local loyalty runs deep here too, with beers from Signature Brew just across the road, and wines from thoughtful suppliers listed proudly on the site. No fluff, no filler and sometimes no filter. Why Go Because there’s nowhere else like it. SlowBurn transforms an industrial factory floor into a restaurant full of warmth, creativity, and intention. It’s refined without being pretentious, inventive without losing touch with simplicity. Chef-owner Chavdar Todorov, who opened the spot in 2020 after starting out with lockdown takeaways, has built one of Walthamstow’s most quietly impressive kitchens.
