Appetite London Master Butcher & Steakhouse

If you live in or around Stratford East Village, Appetite London is likely already on your radar as the ultimate neighborhood specialty butcher, deli, charcutier, and cheese-monger. But if you haven’t stayed for their grill kitchen yet, you are seriously missing out. While their menu boasts everything from social sharing platters to paninis and burgers, the absolute crown jewel of this spot is their freshly cut and grilled meats. My partner and I booked an alfresco table this past Saturday night after hearing endless rave reviews, and it’s safe to say it more than lived up to the hype. The indoor restaurant is very spacious but given the balmy evening, we were keen to snag a table outside, to pretend we were on holiday, albeit a stone's throw from our door. Because we were heading off to watch the England game afterward and wanted to stay sharp, so we skipped starters and went straight for the mains. Although the starters also looked fantastic, with beef carpaccio, classic beef tartare, and caprese salad on offer. We both ordered their legendary steaks—a beef fillet for me and a beef sirloin for my partner. Appetite proudly serves sustainably sourced Scottish beef, raised on the best free range welfare farms, and selected for its incredible marbling and deep flavor. You can truly taste the butcher-to-grill quality. Both cuts were executed to medium-rare perfection: expertly seasoned, seared and caramelized on the outside, while remaining beautifully moist, tender, and ruby-pink in the middle. The steaks come served with a vibrant, fresh side salad and a rich, punchy peppercorn sauce that complemented the meat beautifully. We added a side of roasted potatoes with rosemary, which turned out to be the ultimate comforting addition—crispy, fragrant, and delicious. The ambient outdoor seating was perfect for a summer evening, offering a relaxed yet buzzing atmosphere. The service was exactly what you want on a Saturday night: friendly, highly efficient, and completely non-fussy. The wine recommendation from our server was absolutely spot-on, cutting through the richness of the beef beautifully. As our waiter rightly joked when clearing the table, our completely empty plates spoke for themselves. We devoured every single bite! Whether you’re planning a relaxed date night or a treat meal with a small group of friends, Appetite London delivers on every front. Between the unbeatable quality of their sustainably sourced meats, the masterfully executed grill, and the warm neighborhood hospitality, we are already planning our next visit.

Food was ok but that could have been our ignorance on how meats are cooked. Service was wonderful. It was my wife and I’s first meal in London so the server was extremely gracious and explained some of the nuances. Had a lovely time!

Have been meaning to try this place for ages now as I've popped into the shop from time to time. The menu has always looked incredible. Finally managed it! And wow - the food was just fabulous. Steak Tartare / carpaccio...followed by a 1.4kg fore rib steak (I shared, no-one panic!) It's a lovely little spot, and sat in front of the butcher's display cabinet gives a little special feeling about the place. Not so much the cosy basque-restaurant thing you might sometimes be looking for, but still very nice and different to most places. Service was exceptional from some very attentive and engaged staff who helped explain the different meats we could see and then choose from. Fun and lively chat and excellent service all round really. Definitely going back. And the butcher's counter is calling me back to cook at home too!

There are a million burger places nearby. Ignore them all. This was a random stop, close to 2130. And the burger turned out to be the highlight of the night. Asked for it rare and got exactly what I wanted. Great meat, prepared with care to perfection by a team that clearly love what they do. Sensational. Can't wait to go back for steak!

We had lunch here with our daughter two Sundays ago (when it was really hot in London). The staff who served us was friendly but he was the only serving staff and it was busy that day. We sat outside and the location was perfect for al fresco dining. The restaurant is on a pedestrian square and the tables were shaded so we could enjoy the outdoor without being burnt by the sun. However the food didn't live up to my expectations given the rave reviews I had read. I found the food too salty and I was thirsty all afternoon despite downing lots of water.

Had lunch at Appetite London – amazing experience! Tried the Goat Cheese Salad and Double Patty Cheeseburger – both were fresh, juicy, and full of flavor. Great atmosphere and friendly service. Highly recommended!

Amazing restaurant, deli with great wines and did also spot a fine selection of cheeses! Definitely recommend and will come back for more!
