Bardez - Indian Street Food and Grill, Rusholme

We’ve been huge fans of Bardez (both Rusholme and Didsbury locations) since we discovered a few years ago. The food is consistently amazing and fresh and it is our favourite place to dine and takeaway for authentic Indian food. The lunch menu is amazing (Rajma and kadhi chawal particular standouts). We’ve hosted birthday parties here and more recently Markus, Zico and the team catered for our pre-wedding event / Mehndi night. The catering service was equally as exceptional as the service in the restaurants and Markus went above and beyond to ensure that everything was on point. We had Rajma, Aloo saag, butter chicken, samosas and rice/naan and the guests absolutely loved it all.

Had a great dining experience at Bardez - Indian Street Food and Grill. We ordered the Chicken Lollipop, Goan Fish Thali, and Non-Veg Thali — all the dishes were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The Chicken Lollipop was perfectly crispy and packed with spicy flavor. The Fish Thali was delicious with authentic taste and generous portions, while the Non-Veg Thali offered a great variety and was very satisfying. The owner was very friendly and truly excellent at providing customer service, making us feel welcomed throughout the visit. The atmosphere was warm, and overall it was a wonderful experience. Definitely worth visiting if you love authentic Indian food in Manchester!

After seeing a few promotional videos of their newly launched Goan fish thali, i decided to give it a try and would like to tell you, the only thing missing was the beach 😂 The thali was so good exactly how you get it in Goa. The Chef and owner are from Goa themselves so they made sure to do justice with food. The thali comes with rice, fish curry, surmai fry, 2 vegs, salad, papad, sweet and futi kadi (goan kokum kadi) which is for £18.95 and available Fri-Sun only between 12-4pm at their Rusholme outlet. I recently visited Bardez and tried their Goan Fish Thali for the first time. To say it was amazing would be an understatement—it honestly felt like a culinary trip back to India. The quality of the food is outstanding. You can tell the fish is incredibly fresh; it is clearly cooked to order rather than sitting under a heat lamp. Every component of the thali was balanced, flavorful, and authentic. Beyond the food, the hospitality truly sets this place apart. The owner is exceptionally professional and genuinely cares about the customer experience. He was very interactive, taking the time to come over and chat, asking where we were from and ensuring we were enjoying the specific nuances of the dish. It’s rare to find that level of personal touch and passion in a restaurant these days. If you are looking for authentic Indian street food and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Great food at a very reasonable price. The thali was really good and very filling. They were very accommodating too, making up a dish for us that wasn't on the menu at that time. Will definitely go again when we are next in Manchester.

Google’d the best Indian on Curry Mile and this came back as the result - really hoping that’s not the case as the Poppadoms were cold / not fresh, Pickle Tray was limited, drinks were out of stock and our backup drink choices took 25 minutes to arrive, even after starters. Curry was middle of the road although the rice was fresh and aromatic and the chicken was decent. Ordered 2 naans and received 1. All in all, just nothing special, sadly. Also, £50 for 2 soft drinks, 2 curries, 1 rice, 1 naan and poppadoms seems expensive.

Honestly this is the best Indian food I’ve had in the UK, nevermind Manchester! What happened to be a chance find has turned out to be my new go-to for Indian food. Every dish was better than the next but my honourable mentions would be the dumplings in taipai sauce, and malvani chicken. Fiza served us with great attention to detail and all her recommendations were great! ⭐️

Good genuine tasty medium spicy Indian food. Great for an authentic Indian food experience! I would go there more than once to enjoy the variety!
