My boyfriend and I visited La Taberna before going to a show in Leeds. We were looking for somewhere with lots of gluten free options and that would be suitable for allergies. The staff were amazing with my allergies and dietary restrictions, they knew exactly what was in each dish and could advise on what was safe and what wasn’t. The lovely waitress who served us said that they do their best to minimise allergen ingredients in their dishes, which was brilliant to hear. Not only we were impressed by their allergy awareness, but the food was delicious. We’ll definitely be returning!

Booked this place a month ago because we wanted a nice anniversary meal. As soon we arrived we was sat in the corner on a high stool next to the bar. We asked 2 be moved and got told the place is fully booked. I told him we have been booked for a month and he shot us down aggressively and said it is what it is. We was going.2 leave but I said to my wife let's persevere and give it a go. I swopped seats with my wife as she was looking at a wall in the corner. Then ordered food and a bottle of wine. Wine was nice then the food came randomly. Olives was lovely, patatas braves was warmed up scraps with no tomato sauce, chorizo was burnt. By this point I asked 2 see the manager. I was abit stroppy at first as I was annoyed. But that doesn't deserve the aggression I got back. He was properly in my face shouting saying there's nothing wrong with your food it is how its supposed to be. Worst experience in Leeds we've ever had.. thanks la taberna for making our anniversary unforgettable. 🙄💩
Superb food experience I felt like I was in Spain on my holidays. Authentic flavours and excellent customer service. Will definitely come back again, proper family run restaurant 💃🏻
The menu has a good range of dishes from seafood to red meat and vegetarian options. Presentation of the dishes was good and portion sizes per dish were decent for tapas. That being said if you are not familiar with tapas, you will need to order several dishes for multiple people to eat and be full. One person would need to have at least two dishes to themselves to feel full. Had a few dishes including the rollos de pollo, beef meatballs and mixed veg. Everything was well seasoned. The rollos de pollos were the most interesting dish of chicken rolls stuffed with rum cooked raisins in a tomato based sauce. The flavour was unique and moreish. I also tried the sardines which tasted fresh but be warned there were lots of bones which made them difficult to eat. The star of the show was the crispy fried aubergines, covered in a delightful sweet cinnamon sauce. I would back go and just order that to be honest. Price wise - it's a bit pricey and you'd need to be strategic about what you get, but I would go again.
Cosy family run Spanish tapas place. Welcoming staff, explained every dish with me, super patient and friendly. Food is amazing. Having been in Spain for a few years, the food here is authentic. Try the Gambas, it’s out of this world.
The food was good and the prices are reasonable too. The staff and atmosphere were very welcoming. We were recommended the chorizo cooked in red wine. It was definitely one of the better dishes. The food doesn't always come together. Irrespective of that, we still enjoyed the food.
The overall experience was quite disappointing. The food was made with very cheap quality ingredients, with most dishes tasting quite generic and lacking anything distinctive. The wine also was cheap and poor quality but charged £8 per glass, no one at our table wanted this wine so we ended up sending it back. The restaurant is very dimly lit, which made the atmosphere uncomfortable for some; one of our friends even felt dizzy. Service was average, but we often had to chase staff for the bill or for any additional requests. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the toilets was also below standard, with an unpleasant smell.
Food was delicious and the service was excellent, a lovely little place that I definitely recommend - especially the aubergine fritters! Only small complaint/why have marked atmosphere down slightly is there was an off-putting smell coming from the direction of the toilets a couple of times. I think there may be some pipe issues or something but once they're sorted it would be five stars all round!
