We came to this pub for lunch during the week. It was quiet and thankfully they had plenty of aircon since there was a heat wave. The staff was super friendly and the food was nice too. They have a garden at the back and also tables in the front.

We’ve just moved to this area so decided to try the Sunday roast at our ‘new local’ the Colonel Fawcett. Was really good- generous portions and everything tasted incredible. I loved the chorizo leeks that came with my pork!! Thanks for a great meal guys, I’m sure we’ll be back!!
Update:So having visited and given the honest review below. I took up the invite to return and it was exceptional! The food was exactly as I had hoped. The pumpkin and Parmesan veloute was so full of flavour and the perfect thickness, the roasts we had were cooked to perfection; succulent chicken, pork belly that was so tender it fell apart and the crackling was spot on. The range of vegetables was excellent and the gravy was so tasty. The sticky toffee pudding and chocolate brownie finished off the perfect Sunday roast. Thank you Ross. It was a brilliant experience and the service was fantastic. We’ll be back. Initial review: Booked a Sunday roast with family. Really disappointing. 3 potatoes, gravy, mashed butternut squash, cold Yorkshire pudding and a small piece of beef. Same for the vegan meal with a slice of vegan wellington. That’s it. Really hoped for better. Ordered a sausage roll snack and some bread as we were informed there would be a delay. We were served 2 pieces of sliced bread with butter and an inch of cold sausage roll. The staff were friendly and welcoming but the food was awful. Didn’t ask if any of us had food allergies. We won’t visit again.Gave it 3 stars for the staff.
Great place with a welcoming and chilled out atmosphere. Their roasts are next level. Nice place to spend a lazy Sunday lunchtime.
We recently celebrated my daughter’s 21st birthday at this wonderful pub, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From start to finish, everything was handled with such care and professionalism, making the entire evening feel truly special. The staff were absolutely exceptional — attentive, friendly, and always one step ahead without ever being intrusive. They made sure every guest felt welcome and taken care of, which made a huge difference on such an important occasion. The atmosphere was perfect for a celebration: lively yet comfortable, with a great energy that kept everyone smiling all night.
I've been into the Colonel on a fair few occasions and have always had a nice time. The roast is great along with a strong selection of beers. More importantly, the staff are really friendly and the service is excellent. Definitely my favourite pub in the Camden area.
Went for Sunday Lunch today for my friend’s birthday. We had 2 Beef, 1 Pork and 1 chicken. All cooked to perfection. Staff very welcoming and efficient from start to finish. Will definitely be back soon.
Stopped by this old pub for a drink on steak night - our first visit since a friend's 50th 10 years ago. The steak was very good - much higher standard than I'd expect at a pub. Especially the bavette steak. And the bar staff were exceptionally friendly - shout out to Hope in particular. New manager Ben also. And Kish! It was a Thursday night 2 weeks ago - and for a change (despite gorgeous weather) not absolutely heaving like so many London pubs. Its slightly off-the-beaten path location might be a benefit for people like me who like to get a table, hear my friends when they speak, have access to garden seating in front and back for the occasional fag, and enjoy the slightly dilapitated ambiance precisely for shouting "we're not corporate". A community pub, indeed. Glad to know places like the Colonel Fawcett still exist. I may indeed throw a party there this summer!
