I had the Empress Coconut Rice during my stay in Birmingham, and it was absolutely delicious. The flavour was rich and well-balanced, and it came with a great mix of proteins which made it very satisfying. It’s definitely worth the price, and I would happily have it again. Highly recommended!

WHERE DO I START?? DELICIOUSSSS The food was 100/100. The customer service was 100/100. The abula was heavenly, fresh and tasted so good. All proteins were well cooked and perfectly seasoned. The Suya portion was good value for money. The assorted meat was also tasty especially with the tomato sauce underneath it, yummy yummy. The pepper sauce that was paired with the fried yam is spicy and delicious just how I like it. The fried rice reminds me of my mother’s Sunday fried rice. Listen, run to empress’s restaurant , don’t walk. Thank me later!!! Thank you so much ❤️, my first trip to Birmingham started so well because of you all and I will definitely be back again soon 😊❤️. Kudos to the lady that served me, she is very sweet and very active! The two men at the till too, very polite.
I had a wonderful dining experience at Empress. From the moment I walked in, the staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The service was smooth and efficient without ever feeling rushed, which made the atmosphere even more enjoyable. The food was outstanding each dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor. You can tell the chef puts real care into balancing taste and quality ingredients. Every bite was fresh, well-prepared, and truly satisfying. Overall, I highly recommend Empress to anyone looking for excellent Nigerian food paired with top-notch service. It’s definitely a place I’d love to return to!
I have been here a few times but this was first time I ate in. Ordered fried rice with prawns & my partner had Smoky Jollof rice. The portions are big & we had to take rest of meal home. But both were delicious. I do have 1 issue there was only had 2 prawns in a massive bowl of rice & vegetables. More prawns would have made this dish perfect as the rice was lovely.
Ordered jollof rice - litterly tasted like a bonfire. Egusi soup and okra, the smell alone was horrid, I've honestly never smelt or tasted anything so bad I had to spit it out. Was meant to be mixed meat... What meat? It was either bone, fat, tripe, foot or skin or what ever the hell it was, absolutely awful. Was honestly so disappointed. £55 straight into the bin.
I ate their Abula, and it was really nice. It feels like eating in a buka restaurant.
I absolutely loved my experience here… o came with my friends and we had afang soup and pounded yam and it was amazing!! I am definitely coming back and would highly recommend here for everyone!!
After leaving a negative review in the past due to the staff's attitude at Empress, I've revisited twice since then, and all my friends who have also visited have noticed a significant change. The staff, especially those on duty on 4/4/24 around 1400, from the kitchen crew to the lady at the till, were absolutely delightful. I'm pleased to report that the customer service was top-notch, a solid 10/10. They even interacted with my baby, which was a lovely touch. As for the food, it was a perfect 10/10 as well. We enjoyed puffpuff, suya, and amala with abula, and everything was incredibly delicious. Thank you, Empress, for the improvement in staff attitude. It is definitely appreciated.
