Amsons Your Islamic Lifestyle - Small Heath

Amsons has everything you probably need going to an islamic shop - but I havent written a review of my experiences out of respect for an islamic shop. I have always tried to avoid this place (including alum rock branch)but only go when necessary (which is a shame)... but after many months nearly a year, I visited again and its still the same! Unfortunately the staff are usually helpful but im just tired of the bad attitude of who seem to be the managers/owners at the till. Its the same moody face, cant be bothered attitude and looking at you like you owe them something. I hear many others have experienced the same and this is a sincere request to the brothers who run it, please adopt some cheerfulness towards your customers, small talk, make it a welcoming place.

I had a very weird experience today at Amsons. Keep in mind that I love this shop from Bradford. I come to the Birmingham branch as we are here, looking for black abayas for Umrah, hijabs and Quran gifts. I'm not trying to discourage some staff from being helpful. Be helpful, but not too much where it starts feeling weird, as if they don't want you to buy or see items. Very weird, the lady kept following me indirectly from an ile to another watching me and asking me every 5 to 10 mins if I need help?? Just because I'm browsing through all items. So, I ask another lady for help with trying abayas. I try them then, they don't match, as soon as I leave the changing room I find the first lady asking me if I'm OK or need help?! Am I not supposed to shop? Then I go to the Quran gifts section, and I take a picture to send for my dad to show whats available. A guy approaches me this time to ask if I need help?! I didn't ask for help. They then ask me if I have anything specific. So I say no, I'm browsing thanks. Then he rudly says don't touch them then ok.??? Rude and weird customer service. How dare you so rude during Ramadan as a Muslim this hurt my feelings. As if I'm dirty or something? I just came out of the mosque and doing my shopping. Very racist regards in this shop today. I don't know who is hiring the staff or what training they are receiving. But you might as well keep your items for display and not sell anything.

I’ve ordered of here multiple times and always loved the product and the quality of things. I wanted to write a good review because one of my orders which should have come for next day didn’t arrive which was the couriers fault, but when I called customer service someone was there to pick up straight away and resolved my issue straight away too. I called again and someone else picked up, but they were completely aware of my request because their colleague had communicated this to them too. Little things like that make a huge difference and you don’t usually see people this proactive when you query an online order online so really appreciated this!

Very disappointing experience. I ordered Qurans for students, and unfortunately some copies arrived with missing pages — which is a serious issue for such an important book. I was told replacements would be arranged, but there has been little to no proper follow-up. Communication has been poor throughout. Messages asking for updates were not clearly answered, and my return/replacement request was closed without resolution. Delays can happen, but lack of communication and accountability is not acceptable — especially from an Islamic store where trust and service should be a priority. I hope they improve their customer service and take these matters more seriously in future.

I recently visited this Islamic shop and unfortunately my experience was not the best. The staff member on the till, who was a middle-aged uncle, really needs to improve his customer service, recommendations, and general people skills. Especially in a religious shop where you expect a welcoming and respectful environment, the interaction felt quite dismissive and unhelpful. What made it more disappointing was that the shop was not busy at all and there were no queues, so there was plenty of opportunity to assist customers properly. A little guidance, friendliness, or even simple recommendations would have gone a long way. I hope the shop takes this feedback positively, as better customer service would really improve the overall experience for customers.

Please don’t order from here. I ordered a prayer mat and it arrived dirty. I asked for a refund and it’s taken them weeks to even respond to me probably. They only refunded me the delivery. I have still not received my rightful refund. Absolutely shameful. Avoid this terrible store.

Terrible customer service Whilst am talking to the member of staff regarding a perfume am interested in he abruptly just went to talk to another member of staff. He then comes back to me attempting to resolve my query however I confronted him for his stupid behaviour which seemed to of put him in his place as he didnt have a response. Need to train your staff better with regards to manners , then again the owner seems to be a rather stuck up person so doesnt suprise me one bit

A little pricier than most other shops on Cov Road, but it has a wide variety of Islamic items and gifts. The store is easy to navigate and always tidy.
